Jen Drysdale grew up in Montreal, Québec gaining an appreciation for visual art through encouraging parents that worked in the commercial art industry. She recently moved to the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia after living and working in Metro Toronto for over 25 years where she studied, created, taught and exhibited her artwork in and around the province of Ontario.

Her paintings usually depict a solitary figure within a specific environment. She is interested in a connection or, in some cases, disconnect between the figure and spaces they occupy. Abstraction, distortion and spontaneity are important parts of her most recent process. They allow a looseness and more intuitive approach to painting. By layering colour and line, she paints, scratches and draws in, around and over the forms, exploring a merging of figure and ground.
