Born and raised in Japan, Motoko immigrated to Canada and moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1992. Working predominantly in acrylics, water colour and encaustics, she is known for her fine sense of color, design and texture to create abstract paintings.
Motoko is strongly influenced by her Japanese cultural background, as well as the spirit of Zen and the natural beauty of British Columbia’s west coast where she now lives. Her creations evoke a sense of peacefulness, tranquility and healing that touches the mind and soul of the viewer and generates calm, positive energy. The faces of her artistic passion often reveal themselves in ways that range from joyous enthusiasm to awe, especially when she experiences the raw emotion of nature.
Motoko’s goal is to create art that gives a sense of peace and happiness in people’s daily lives.
Motoko operates and exhibits her art in her own gallery, Motoko’s Original Art, located at 4590 Sinclair Bay Road in Garden Bay, Pender Harbour, BC.
